January 29, 2014 by Amy 4 Comments

When my sister was deciding on flooring in her house, she wanted the look of wood but was nervous about the maintenance with kids and being out on a ranch (lots of dirt).  She fell in love with this Natural Redwood Series porcelain tile (affiliate link) it comes in 6" x 24" pieces.  This tile looks so great on the floor.  She has a lot of cool tile in her house, but the floor … [Read more...]

Valentines Heart Door Decoration – free pattern

January 20, 2014 by Amy 1 Comment

Well it's that time again, put away our Christmas/Winter wreath and bring out your hearts.  This Valentines heart door decoration combines the fun chevron pattern with rustic barnwood.  I love barnwood and weathered pallets. To make this Valentines door hanger, you'll need some thin (1/4" or so) plywood or fiberboard and some barnwood or pallets.  The overall size of the … [Read more...]

Valentine's Day is fast approaching...wasn't it just Christmas?  This cute Valentine's Day craft was inspired by Robert Indiana's LOVE statue in Philly, 'tis the season of love. I cut the LOVE wood blocks out of a scrap piece of 2"x12" pine board, other materials will work too.  The finished size of the LOVE blocks is 10 1/2" x 10 1/2".  The pattern is split onto two pages, … [Read more...]

Husky Farmhouse Table – Ana White plan

January 1, 2014 by Amy Leave a Comment

When the Ana White's Husky Farmhouse Table started circulating around pinterest my Sister thought it would be a perfect edition to her new Farm House styled home that she was building.  The store bought husky legs came with a sorta hefty price+shipping, so my sister asked a local wood turner if he had anything laying around.  And to her great fortune, he did!!!  … [Read more...]

How to organize toys? Toy Organization System – Ikea hack

December 30, 2013 by Amy Leave a Comment

For Christmas this year, my super organized sister wanted to get a toy organization system for Grandma's toy and game closet.  My sister has been using the TROFAST storage system at Ikea in her play room and loves it.  I thought we can get better use of space if we make it a built in (and less places to shove and stuff things :-)  So we purchased the bins from Ikea, they are … [Read more...]

Silver Travertine Tile Herringbone Floor Tutorial

December 27, 2013 by Amy 2 Comments

My sister just finished building a house.  She longingly dreamed of the amazing kitchens, rooms and floors that she pinned and saw on houzz!!!  However she was on a budget, ha ha, and patterned tile floors can come with a hefty price tag.  Around these parts labor averages $10-$12/sq ft.  She has a lot of tile floors (about 1,200 sq-ft).  So she begged her handy sister (me) to … [Read more...]

My Mom’s friend picked up this fun modern wooden wall tree at West Elm last year.  My Mom has wanted one ever since.  The Wooden wall tree is no longer available at West Elm, but it’s not too hard to recreate.  I made a few adjustments with building materials that are readily available at the hardware store. … [Read more...]

Behold Him Blocks

December 20, 2013 by Amy 2 Comments

Last year I saw the Behold Him blocks on pinterest.  I thought that they were soooo cute.  When Christmas came around the pin had a broken link, so I did my best to recreate it.  I made them for my neighbor gift for Christmas.  Since then I've found another link to I think the 'original' Behold Block creater.  I believe she sells them here.  Definitely the cutest ones out … [Read more...]

Rolled paper Christmas Tree Ornament

December 17, 2013 by Amy 15 Comments

On the 12th day of Christmas Hertoolbelt went to a Christmas concert and totally slacked off getting an ornament posted!!!  Deborah Voight was a guest singer at this concert.  She sang the Twelve days after Christmas and it was hilarious.  I'd never heard it before, if you haven't I highly recommend looking it up on youtube for a good laugh. Back to the ornaments, I'm sure … [Read more...]
